How do you make a gradient overlay to PART of an image on photoshop?

I just want to take a picture, keep one part of it normal, and then make the rest of it rainbow with a gradient overlay.

How do I go about doing this?

Thankss !How do you make a gradient overlay to PART of an image on photoshop?
Make a new layer with the gradient. Make sure the gradient layer is above your photo. Then take a very large brush, like 300 pixels large and start erasing the above gradient layer so that the photo shows through. Make the brush even larger if you need it to happen more gradually. How do you make a gradient overlay to PART of an image on photoshop?
In your layers pallet, you have something called a gradient map. Make this a layer, and then pick a very soft brush, about 50% opacity and paint over the areas you do not want to be affected with BLACK.
